Jon and Phoebe's thetomyumkongs journey.

our reflections in the field.

Updates from The Kongs – Oct ’21 to Jan ’22

In the past months, there have been several opportunities for both of us to participate in missions webinars, in-person conferences, online outreaches and informal discussions which renews our missions calling. Each time we attend these sessions, we are refreshed and reminded about God’s desire for the nations. Through these sessions, we also reflected and talked about how our future missions life would look like. Being away from the field makes it challenging! We pray that God will continue to keep and guide us in this journey. Continue to pray with us as we consider an appropriate time for us to visit Thailand for a vision trip this year.

Jon completed his 6-month AgriTech course in September and started his new role in the Missions department in our local church. While getting used to the transition back to ministry at church and the steep learning curve of the new role, Jon thanks God for the opportunity and new experiences. He looks forward to being able to apply what he has learnt in the mission field in the care of missionaries serving on the field and to learn what it means for the church to partner mission agencies and missionaries in the field to be part of God’s mission to the nations. Pray that God will use him during this current season in this role.

In local outreach, Phoebe is thankful for the many collaborations with like-minded brothers and sisters in Christ with the heart to serve the community. There were opportunities to bless families and share the gospel with children and youths during the season of Christmas. Jon and Phoebe also thank God for the opportunity to preach to our local church about Jesus’ love for the poor and missions at our doorstep (photo below!).

Currently, Phoebe is praying about making a short trip to Bangkok in March to reconnect with a missionary friend who will be visiting from the UK, and to catchup with other friends in Bangkok. The current travel restrictions are relaxed with the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) but there are still many considerations like inconveniences and additional costs (PCR tests are not cheap!). Pray for God to confirm if this is the right time to travel.

Amidst a hectic month of December, we managed to find time to carry out our family tradition of year-end reflections
